Vintage Moroccan Silk Brocade Coat

Pictures do little justice to this stunning Moroccan ceremonial caftan/coat - the craftsmanship is unbelievable. Traditionally worn as ceremonial or wedding attire, caftans like this can take well over a month to create by hand.  Semi-sheer  metallic silk brocade in the palest shade of gold with cobalt blue and shot with silver - the fabric glints in the light and changes hue as it moves. Every seam is edged in a heavy, hand embroidered blue and gold trim, and the caftan closes between the breasts with ten small, gold knotted ball buttons with loops, falling open from the bust to the hem.  Unlined, the embroidery makes this coat somewhat weighty with a beautiful drape.  Suffice to say that if you're looking for that one-in-a-million evening coat, you've just found it. Circa mid 20th century, it is in excellent condition. Bust 36", waist 38", hip 40", outer sleeve 23" dropping to 30" at the inner seam, shoulder 14.5", length 58". $675
