1970s Pierre Cardin Optic Check Coat

It's been said that Pierre Cardin was the first designer to understand the potential of the business of fashion. It was that 'understanding' that led to uncontrolled licensing of the Cardin name, and though it made Cardin one of the richest designers in the world, it also somewhat sullied his reputation as an innovative and  brilliant designer. Designed in a black and white optic check printed cotton/polyurethane fabric, with a black vinyl tie belt and trim at the belted cuff band, and slant welted pocket. T  Buttons from neck to hip with silver toned enameled buttons stamped with Cardin's 'P' logo, also on the black cuff band.  With a belt loop at either side waist, a slightly dropped shoulder and a wide collar, the look brings to mind Cardin's space age designs, mod with a  seventies flair. Bust 37", waist 30", hip 40", sleeve (center back to end of sleeve) 30", length 45". Made in France, fully lined and in excellent condition.  $485
