1950s Black Velvet Dress 




Can a dress be both seductive and demure at the same time?  You betcha.  This lovely velvet little black dress is styled with a modified sweetheart neckline that emphasizes the décolleté without exposing it. The sleeve is almost off-shoulder, with a band at the sleeve hole instead of a sleeve. Picture a short little cap sleeve with a cut out at the apex of the shoulder. Very alluring. A row of rhinestone buttons with satin loop closures skip down the front bodice to the fitted waist, which also has a belt, then lightly skims the hip and falls to a Designed by Sue Mason Jr. for Saba of California, it has a side zipper closure, and is lined through the bodice only with the skirt being unlined. Bust 37.5", waist 27", hip to 41", length 46". Light color fade to the lining only under the arm, and the vinyl backing of the belt is cracked, otherwise in excellent condition.  $175
