1970s Halston Matte Jersey Halter Dress and Sweep Coat

Before you further, we have good news and bad news. The bad news is that the coat has some damage - namely, a faint line of fade along the shoulder seams, continuing a little way down on the left sleeve; a couple of pinprick holes in the left sleeve in the area of the triceps; another pinhole on the left shoulder blade, and one on the right front in the vicinity of the clavicle. Now the good news: This coat and dress are quintessential Halston - an ensemble that exemplifies the genius of his craft and reminds you why there will never, ever be another Halston. Designed in Halston's favored matte jersey in a luscious shade of mulberry,  it hugs your body like a second skin, hangs beautifully and looks simply amazing on. The halter gown is self lined, so the drape is even more alluring. You don the gown by sliding it over your head - the only fastener is a hook and bar at the back of the neck. The coat is close fitting through the upper body and arm, open in front with a hook and eye closure at the neck, then falls into a sweeping train. Sigh. A stunning dress and coat, and we're probably going to kill ourselves for not holding onto it, but c'est la vie.  This is going to be best on a size 4 or 6, maybe a slender 8. There is some give to the fabric - we have the dress and coat displayed on a dress form with static measurements of 36.5" - 27" -  36", and it fits like a glove. The shoulder to hem length as displayed on the form is 59".  sold
