1940s Knit Swim Trunks

In the 1940s, swimwear manufacturers Jantzen and Catalina designed a knit boxer style swimsuit for men, which became an instant hit on California beaches.  This pair is made from a dark blue 75/25% cotton and wool knit, and sports a coordinating woven belt and a small buttoned pocket at the right hip. In unworn condition with the original Markowitz Bros. hang tag, they have minimal surface soil and a few pinholes in the interior wool knit lining panel. Flat, unstretched measurements are:  waist 29", hip 30", front rise 12", length waist to top of leg 9". Stretch in knit to accommodate waist and hip measurements about 2" larger.  $65
