Vintage Black Dinner Jacket

Introduced in an era of high formality at the dawn of this century, the dinner jacket was considered casual wear, and worn at informal family dinners and intimate parties.  It was some time before it began replacing the tail coat  for formal wear. This vintage dinner jacket was hand tailored in Hong Kong in a sleek wool sharkskin fabric. Classic double-breasted styling with a satin lapel and satin buttons on the front and sleeve cuff, welted chest pocket and slash pockets at either hip with a flap that can be worn out or tucked into the pocket for a more streamlined effect. Fully lined with a single interior pocket, it also has the name of the former owner embroidered in gold thread on a tag near the interior pocket. Tailored in Hong Kong by Maiwo,Yang & Co., we're judging this as circa early 1960s. Chest 39", waist 36", hip 38", shoulder 18", sleeve 26.5", length 31". Excellent condition.  $145
