1960s Christian Dior Black Bengaline Suit

When you think of classic fashion styles of the early 1960s, if you're like us you  think of the clothes Jackie Kennedy wore as First Lady.  This suit exemplifies that understated, monied style.  Designed by Christian Dior New York in black bengaline, the cut is straight, the look - elegant and classic.  A wool/silk fabric has a very subtle sheen, set off by black satin tuxedo stripes conceal hidden inseam pockets offset over the hip bone on the skirt.  The satin trims the placket, collar and hem of the jacket as well. Beautiful half dome shaped, black silk thread covered decorative buttons adorn the placket with covered snaps on the underside actually closing the front. The jacket has bracelet length sleeves and a supple silk satin lining.  The skirt has a back zipper closure with a bar hook at the waistband and is lined in black batiste. This suit is a rare larger size, with the waist measuring 32", hip 43.5", length  25".  Jacket measures: Bust 43", waist  39",  hip 43", shoulder 17.5", sleeve 17", length 21".  Excellent condition.  sold
